WOODWARD—On the 25th November, 1918, at her mother’s residence (Mrs. I. Corich), Helena (Lena), the beloved wife of Frank H. Woodward, and niece of the late Captain Frandi; aged 30 years.
WOODWARD—On the 26th November, 1918, the infant daughter of Frank H. and Helena Woodward.
Helena married Senior Sergeant Major (Warrant Officer) Frank Hubert WOODWARD at the Wellington Pro-Cathedral (Old St. Paul’s) on 7 October 1916. Frank departed on active service one month later and was away from New Zealand until April 1918. On 26 November 1918 Helena gave birth to a premature daughter who lived six hours and was named Helena. Helena and her daughter were buried together at Karori Cemetery on 28 November 1918.

Italia was born in Pisa, Toscana, Italy in 1868. Her parents migrated to New Zealand sometime between 1876 and 1879. Italia married John Carrenge (aka KARENTZE) in 1886 in Wellington, and the birth of their daughter Ellen Harriet (aka Helena Arethusa) was registered in 1888. In 1901 Italia married again, this time to Peter (Pietro) CORICH, and they had a daughter Elvira Maria in 1902. Peter died in 1906 and was buried in the Roman Catholic section of Karori Cemetery. Frank Hubert WOODWARD married again in 1921 to Jessie Anne Fenwick ROBERTS. They had no surviving children. Frank died in 1942 and was cremated at Karori Cemetery where his ashes were interred a cabinet.
